    Minister of Finance at Government of Canada

    Bill Morneau was appointed as Minister of Finance of Canada on November 4, 2015, following his election as the Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre. Prior to that appointment, he had a very successful business career. He has been an active volunteer in Toronto Centre for more than 20 years.
    When Bill became President of Morneau Shepell in 1992, the firm employed 200 people and provided employee benefits and pension services. Under his leadership, the company expanded to become the largest Canadian human resources company, employing 4,000 people in Canada and around the world, and he took the company public in 2005 on the TSX.
    Bill studied retirement issues as a member of the Government of Ontario's Pension Advisory Council, and in 2012 he was appointed as Pension Investment Advisor to Ontario's Minister of Finance.
    Bill's community service in Toronto Centre is extensive. He has worked to support the arts, help street kids, and improve access to health care and education. He was chair of the board of St. Michael's Hospital, Covenant House and the C.D. Howe Institute, and sat on the boards of the Loran Scholars Foundation and The Learning Partnership.
    Internationally, Bill founded a special school for Somali and Sudanese girls in an African refugee camp.
    In 2002, Bill was named one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40. He has co-authored a book, The Real Retirement, and has authored numerous articles on public policy issues. Bill holds a BA from Western University, an MSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD.

    Bill Morneau a été nommé ministre des Finances du Canada le 4 novembre 2015, à la suite de son élection en tant que député de Toronto-Centre. Avant cette nomination, il a eu une carrière très fructueuse dans le monde des affaires. Bill est un bénévole actif au sein de Toronto-Centre depuis plus de 20 ans.

    La portée du service communautaire de Bill dans Toronto-Centre est étendue. Il a œuvré en faveur des arts, de l'aide aux enfants de la rue et de l'amélioration de l'accès à l'éducation et aux soins de santé. Il a occupé le poste de président du conseil de l'hôpital St. Michael's, du Covenant House et de l'Institut C.D. Howe. Il a également siégé aux conseils de la Loran Scholars Foundation et du Partenariat en éducation.

    CEO of Saimen

    Carl Breau is a Canadian engineer based in Shanghai and is the General Manager of Saimen, a Chinese company specialized in importing and distributing technical, educational and creative products into the Chinese market. Saimen, with offices and warehouse in Shanghai, has already performed over 40 successful china market entry projects with a number of North American companies.

    Carl Breau speaks fluent mandarin and is a frequent speaker and university lecturer on the topic of doing business in China. His expertise is IP protection, marketing strategy and dealing with Chinese business partners.

    Mr. Breau was awarded the Exceptional Achievement Medal from the Canadian Council of Engineers in 1999.

    CEO and GM of Manulife-Sinochem

    Ms. ZHANG Kai was appointed as Chief Executive Officer & General Manager of Manulife-Sinochem in February 2016. As the first Sino-foreign life insurance joint venture, Manulife-Sinochem has successfully built its footprint across 51 cities in 14 provinces in China. Kai is a member of Manulife's Asia Division Executive Committee (ADEC). Prior to joining Manulife-Sinochem, Ms. Zhang was Country Business Manager for Citi’s Consumer Bank in China and Executive Vice President of Citibank (China) Co., Ltd., responsible for wealth management business, credit card and consumer assets businesses. Previously, Ms. Zhang served as Chief Financial Officer, Head of Franchise Development and Country Marketing Director at Citi China. Ms. Zhang has over 20 years of financial services experience across North America and Asia. She joined Citi in 2004 in New York, as part of Citi’s Corporate Strategy and M&A Group, and later took the role of Regional Head of Sales and Distribution with Citi Asia Pacific Consumer Bank in Singapore. Prior to joining Citi, Ms. Zhang worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and an actuarial analyst with Watson Wyatt Worldwide. Ms. Zhang holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from Mount Holyoke College. She grew up in Nanjing, and returned to China in 2008, she is married with two children.
