The effective management of tax is a critical aspect of financial wellbeing that requires strong knowledge and understanding. To this end, CanCham is offering a seminar on tax outlook in 2023. A team of speakers will explore their many years of expertise on a number of topics related to tax and share their insights about policy, management, and environment.     Jack Wu

    Partner at Acadia Advisory Group

    Jack Wu leads the Acadia team with an extensive international accounting and taxation background and a keen understanding of practical issues that arise while doing business in China. Jack has experience working in China on virtually all kinds of business operations including setting up a legal structure, market-entry, human resource strategy, taxation, accounting, import/export regulations, sourcing, and cross-border fund flows.
    Jack and his team have been trusted partners to Sino-foreign Joint Ventures, manufacturing plants from setup to maturity, Fast Moving Consumer goods brands, restaurant chains, and fund managers, financial institutes as China increasingly opened more industry sectors to foreign investment in recent years.
    Jack is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the US and received his MBA degree from the University of Tennessee. He has been a frequent speaker in the foreign chamber of commerce and spoke globally in the US, Canada, Germany, Singapore, The Netherlands, and Hong Kong. Before joining Acadia, Jack was the Executive Director of Vistra China, in charge of the International Expansion unit.

    Richard has more than 18 years’ experience on supply chain/value chain planning, international tax and transfer pricing, as well as customs valuation. He worked for PwC and E&Y, before joining Grant Thornton China.

    Richard has structure planning and dispute resolution as his main focus areas, including but not limited to –
    Structuring the China supply chain, value chain and transfer pricing mechanism for MNCs;
    Planning the global holding structure, financing structure, value chain, transactional and transfer pricing model for China outbound investment initiatives;
    Advising special-purpose structures such as for VIE and IPO;
    Supporting tax and customs valuation disputes under intercompany dealings;
    Assisting in Mutual Agreement Procedure

    Richard’s presentations and publications:
    Co-author of Theories and Practical Guide of China Transfer Pricing;
    Regular author of various technical alerts/commentaries on China tax topics for BNA and ITR

    Richard has China Law License, and he is a Certified Tax Agent in China. He is also a Visiting Professor of China tax curriculum for the EMBA course of SHUFE.

    Richard is a tri-lingual speaker of Chinese, English and French.

    Tony has more than 12 years’ experience in delivering services to many key clients for global mobility services, PRC Individual Income Tax (IIT) consultation, compliance and advisory on global equity incentive plan, and immigration services.

    Tony started his career as a PRC Individual Income Tax (“IIT”) professional with one Big Four firm in 2011 before joining Grant Thornton in year 2018.

    Tony is an expert in area:

    Global mobility arrangement consultation;
    Compensation and rewards structuring including benefits-in-kind policy design and stock incentive plan design;
    Global stock incentive plan implementation in China covering foreign exchange control and tax implementations as well as employee communication;
    China social security and individual income tax set up and health check;
    Immigration services for foreigners working in China, including application for work permits and residence permits for employees and their family members;
    Tax planning arrangement for high-net-worth individual;
