This session will cover the current Food & Beverage Opportunities that are in China for Canadian Companies - Large and SMEs. We will offer suggestions to enter this challenging Market such as using Cross Border E-Commerce including a review of the newly released Tax/Rules and the “Positive List”, China Pilot Free Trade Zones, a review of Distribution Channels and Logistics available. The presentations will include real Business Cases and a panel discussion. This should provide the participants with a framework of material that will assist them to build a checklist of questions & actions to follow when considering entering China F&B Market.

    I have more than 30 years experience in Sales & Marketing (B2B & B2C) working for large multinational corporations like American Airlines, GlaxoSmithKline, Maersk Shipping, Hutchison Whampoa Hong Kong (now CK Hutchison).

    I have written several articles in the Shanghai Business Review [SBR] magazine (22,000 subscribers). I am part of the China’s Free Trade Zones working committee for American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and have regular meetings with Chinese officials.

    I have been speaking at numerous conferences on the subject of Market Entry/Business Modeling Innovation: Asia Mobile Expo in Shanghai 2014, During Canada/Quebec Premier visit in Shanghai 2014, at the Scandinavian Chambers of Commerce in February 2015 and recently about E-Commerce in China at the Global Congress of Knowledge Economy Conference in Qingdao.

    I have registered my Company, JGB Systems & Services in China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. The Company is specialising in management consulting (Market Entry Strategy, Business Model Innovation, E-Commerce) and is assisting, with our Business Partners, Foreign Owned Companies to enter or strengthen their presence in China’s or APAC Markets using innovative methods to help them achieve breakthrough business results.

We also provide consultation for Canadian companies looking to enter the Chinese market as well as sourcing, procurement and quality assurance services for companies looking to acquire goods and services in China.
    Tony Jaw is a Chinese-Canadian entrepreneur who has been living and working in China since 2008. He is also a strong proponent of building ties between Canada and China through trade, specifically in the Agri-food and Health supplements industry. Currently based in Shanghai, he has combined his knowledge of trade with his passion for wine to create his own Icewine brand. His company also represents and distributes products in China for several well-known foreign brands. Leveraging his network and existing distribution channels he has been able to achieve steady profitable growth for the products he distributes. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (class ’94) and past recipient of an ACCE Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Award in Toronto for innovation in trade.

    Jackie relocated to Shanghai from Toronto in 2007. She has been working for Canadian businesses with interests in Asia since 1990. Jackie holds a BAH from Queen’s University, a diploma from The McCrae Institute at Capilano Colllege and an MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business, Jackie brings a broad range of Canadian and Asian experience to her roles.
